Islamic International Pre School annual Sports meet
James was the guest of honor at a recent Islamic International Pre School annual Sports meet that was enjoyed by all pupils, staff and families. There were 4 house teams that participated in the event. It was a fund raising event that was hugely successful for further development of the school.

WORLD CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATIONS
James recently attended the ‘Worlds Children’s day celebrations at a local school. He and his brother support the school in various activities. The school children put on a wonderful entertainment program for all parents. We will continue to support the school.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF SUPPLYING LIGHTING TO SRI MUTHUVINAYAGA SWAMY KOVIL/TEMPLE IN SEA STREET, COLOMBO
After a major refurbishment program at the beginning of 2016 at the Sri Muthuvinayaga Swamy Kovil/temple in Sea Street, Colombo, James Alexander Sathasivam had the great privileged to be asked by the trustee of the Temple to assist the Temple with their new lighting requirements. This honor was immediately accepted and supported, and thereafter J.A Sathasivam supplied the Temple with high quality lighting systems to provide the Temples worshippers with enhanced beauty of the Temple. FUNDING OF AGRICULTURE PROJECTS TO BENEFIT IMPOVERISHED FAMILIES IN PUTTALAM, SRI LANKA
During 2010, J.A Sathasivam supported a trial agriculture program in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka to develop and fund in excess of 75 impoverished, low income farmer families with a sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture program. J.A Sathasivam also supported schools in the same district and its pupils by donating stationary and funding for their educational needs and families with medical treatment costs. This program lasted for 18 months. J.A Sathasivam is delighted to enclose various pictures.
IN MEMORY OF MY LATE FATHER MAHADEVAN SATHASIVAM
In trying to emulate J.A Sathasivam’s father’s good deeds, the renowned All Ceylon Cricketer, “Mahadevan Sathasivam” in humanitarian and other charitable causes. J.A Sathasivam has devoted much time in his memory to helping the less privileged in poor and emerging countries to better their lives and that of their families. To this end, J.A Sathasivam has and will continue to help where possible worthy causes to better their well-being and their children’s lives.
STRUCTURING A LINE OF CREDIT – FUNDING & SUPPLY OF STRATEGIC PRODUCTS FOR SUDAN SPC
In 2015, J.A Sathasivam structured a very large line of credit for the Sudan Governments Petroleum Corporation to import various strategic commodities to ensure that its people had the continual supply of a specific basic product. This to alleviate the great difficulty that the people of Sudan had to bear over many years. An additional line of credit from a further institution was raised in 2016 to continue with this humanitarian need.
DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES – SUPPLY OF COMPLETE SOLAR POWER SYSTEMS TO GHANA
In 2015, J.A Sathasivam met with the Ghana State Housing Corporation in Accra to discuss the supply to under privileged families who live in State owned low cost developments with complete rooftop domestic solar power systems. The project is for 200,000 x 1kw systems to supply 200,000 such homes with electricity to enhance living standards and to allow children at night to study. The initial delivery rooftop domestic solar power systems was successfully completed to the State Housing Corporation late 2016.
PROJECT TO SUPPLY POOR BANGLADESH FAMILIES OF DOMESTIC COOKING GAS FACILITIES
In October 2016, J.A Sathasivam negotiated and signed an agreement to supply and implement to a major humanitarian company, who own substantial housing and hospitals in Bangladesh with a domestic gas storage and filling systems to enhance the living conditions of households in the supply of low cost domestic cylinder cooking gas to poor families. This project is currently underway and we expect completion by 2018. Further projects of a similar nature are expected to be developed in due course. SUKUK BANKING STRUCTURE FOR DEVELOPING UGANDA
In 2016, J.A Sathasivam arranged and accompanied a team of banking delegates from the Middle East to meet with His Excellency, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda in Kampala to discuss the possibility of setting up Sukuk Islamic banking and funding structures in the country. The initiative was received most favorably by His Excellency. This method of finance is primarily to help the poor with fair and equitable bank lending facilities for funding of micro and mainstream business and to encompass humanitarian causes in this developing country. This initiative is intended to be further developed in 2017/18. Pictures-Video attached.
PROMOTING OF A CHARITABLE CLIMB FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE POOR TO MOUNT KILIMANJARO
In 2007, J.A Sathasivam promoted and encouraged a charitable challenge of an individual to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa in a given period of time in order to raise money and to send an agronomist to provide agriculture teaching methods to very impoverished farmer families in the old Nyasaland of Africa to grow basic staple foods, such as maize, corn, sorghum. The funds raised also provided children in orphanages and schools with basic educational materials, such as books, pens, etc. The challenge was taken up by a dedicated charitable individual who accomplished this task of climbing the highest mountain in Africa in record time and in turn this charitable endeavor raised in excess of Euro20,000.00. After succeeding in this formidable task, the person in question then visited the village of Mzuzu amongst a few other villages to hand over the raised funds and educational material to the orphanages, schools and to several village chiefs.
CHARITABLE AND HUMANITARIAN CAUSE TO HELP FAMILIES IN NEED
During the dark days of South Sudan’s internal conflict, J.A Sathasivam supported and funded a few stranded South Sudanese in Juba, the countries capital city with substantial finance to be reunited with their families in neighbouring countries and to help them and to give them the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Since then they have prospered and rebuilt their lives. Attached is a recent picture of one of the beneficiaries that he helped.
TO HELP A NATION IN NEED
To help South Sudan with their energy requirements, in 2014, J.A Sathasivam arranged and accompanied a team of high level delegates from one of China’s major State owned Corporations to negotiate under very favourable conditions the implementation of a 10,000Bpd refinery, a 200Mw power generating plant and 260 kilometers of pipeline to provide the country with its own sustainability in energy. MoU’s were duly signed with the Government.
TO HELP SUDAN, POST LIFTING OF SANCTIONS
Since the lifting of US sanctions of Sudan on 13th January 2017, J.A Sathasivam has arranged for a team of high level bankers to visit the country’s institutions and Government departments with the view of elevating to international standards the country’s compliance processes, in order to integrate these institutions with US standards and norms. This program is expected to proceed during 2017 and by doing so to benefit the Sudanese people.
HUMANITARIAN AND MEDICAL TREATMENT SERVICES
In view of the dire lack of good medical treatment services in various African countries, such as Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia and similar countries, James has arranged with various illustrious hospitals in Sri Lanka and India to provide medical service facilities in the field of – Heart disease/Cardiac surgical procedures, Fertility centre, Kidney care centre/Uro Renal Surgeries, Radiology services, Eye clinic, ENT centre, Nuclear Medical Services, Neuro Science centre and to include laboratory services. This program is expected to commence with Somali and Sudanese patients.
A PRINCE OF SRI LANKA CRICKET – MAHADEVAN SATHASIVM
Mahadevan Sathasivam (18 October 1915, Ceylon – 9 July 1977 in Colombo, Sri Lanka), or Satha as he was known, was the Sri Lankan cricketer whom Garry Sobers called “the greatest batsman ever on earth,” and Frank Worrell called him “the best batsman he had ever seen”. Sathasivam played cricket in the 1940s through the 1960s. Sathasivam was the first, and probably the only, man to captain three national teams. He was captain of the Ceylon team in 1948, and then captain of the Singapore team, and finally captain of the Malaysian team.
